Our Treatment Process

1. Initial Consultation

During your initial consultation, our Invisalign experts will assess your smile and determine if Invisalign is the right treatment option for you. We will take digital impressions and create a personalized treatment plan.

2. Custom Aligners

Based on your treatment plan, a series of custom-made clear aligners will be created specifically for your smile. You will wear each set of aligners for about two weeks before progressing to the next set.

3. Progress Monitoring

You will visit our office periodically so our dentists can monitor your progress and ensure your treatment is on track. While every case is unique, and can take varying lengths of time, with Invisalign, you'll see a noticeable improvement in your smile in just a matter of months.

Meet Your Dentists

Dr. Bayne H. Heersink

A Dothan native, Dr. Bayne Heersink is deeply rooted in the Wiregrass Area. After graduating from Houston Academy, he earned a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and attended UAB School of Dentistry. His passion for tackling complex cases earned him an award from the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain during dental school.

Following a stint in private practice in North Alabama, Dr. Heersink pursued his calling to specialize in Prosthodontics. He completed a rigorous three-year residency at UAB School of Dentistry in 2014, distinguishing himself as chief resident in his final year. Dr. Heersink also serves as an officer in Alabama's Third District Dental Society.

Wilkerson K. Mahone, DMD

A Dothan native and Providence Christian School alumnus, Dr. Wilkerson K. Mahone's path to dentistry began at Auburn University, where he graduated with a B.A. in Biomedical Sciences. As the first doctor in his family, he earned his DMD from UAB School of Dentistry in 2020.

Dr. Mahone's commitment to his roots extends beyond dentistry. He married his high school sweetheart of 8 years before moving to Birmingham for dental school.

Jordan Rains, DDS

Hailing from Hannibal, MO, Dr. Jordan Rains graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida Southern College before earning her DDS from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry in 2016. As a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the Alabama Dental Association, she is committed to providing exceptional care.

Dr. Rains brings a wealth of experience from her years in public health, serving a rural underserved community with general dentistry care. Joining Foundations Dental Group allows her to pursue her true passion: working with pediatric patients. She is excited to create positive dental experiences for children and help them establish healthy habits for life.

Riley Rains, DDS

Originally from the small town of Gallatin, Missouri, Dr. Riley Rains graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Missouri before earning his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2015. As a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the Alabama Dental Association, he is dedicated to providing top-quality care.

Dr. Rains spent several years in public health, serving a rural underserved community with general dentistry services. This experience reinforced his commitment to building relationships with patients and delivering personalized, high-level dental care. He is thrilled to bring his expertise to the Wiregrass area and join the exceptional team at Foundations Dental Group.

Stella Petroff-Heersink, DMD

Dr. Stella Petroff-Heersink grew up in Springfield, Ohio, and earned her BA in biochemistry from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She then pursued her passion for dentistry at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, where she obtained her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) and served as both Student Body President and ASDA chapter President. Following her education, Dr. Petroff-Heersink began her dental career in Columbus, Ohio, practicing there for one year before moving to Philadelphia, PA, where she continued her career for three years at Society Hill Family Dentistry.

Dr. Petroff-Heersink is an active member of the American Dental Association and the Alabama Dental Association. She is dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate dental care, focusing on creating a calming and enjoyable environment for her patients. Her clinical skills include preventative and restorative dentistry, pediatric and adult dentistry, crowns, bridges, and veneers, as well as basic oral surgery, implant restoration, and removable prosthodontics.

Dr. Blalock grew up on a beef cattle farm in Crossville, TN. The time he spent working on the farm taught Dr. Blalock valuable problem-solving skills and a good work ethic. After Dr. Blalock suffered a dental injury when a cow’s hoof contacted his teeth, his dentist repaired his smile and sparked a fascination for the art of dentistry. Because of that experience, Dr. Blalock realized his calling was to become a dentist. He loves that dental work gives him the ability to work creatively with his hands while interacting with patients and making a positive impact on their lives.

Dr. Blalock graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tennessee Tech University with an undergraduate degree in health science biology. He went on to graduate with honors from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry

How Does Invisalign Work?

How Do I Care For My Invisalign Aligners?

Proper care of your invisalign aligners is essential to ensure the success of your treatment. You should brush and floss your teeth and rinse your aligners with lukewarm water after every meal or snack to prevent the buildup of bacteria and plaque. Avoid drinking anything other than water while wearing your aligners to prevent staining. Never use hot water, toothpaste, or mouthwash to clean your aligners as it can damage them.
